ARMENIA + VISEGRAD:

NEW OPPORTUNITIES FOR THE CONTINUATION OF INTERCULTURAL DIALOGUE

PROJECT

On October 31 - November 4, 2023 in Yerevan, in 3 regions of Armenia (Shirak (Gyumri), Lori (Vanadzor), Tavush (Ijevan, organized additionally) Armenian Rolan Bykov Foundation plans to implement a special project “Armenia + Visegrad: New Opportunities for the Continuation of Intercultural Dialogue” supported by the International Visegrad Fund aimed at creating necessary conditions for the continuation of deepening/expanding intercultural dialogue between the Visegrad countries (the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Poland), Armenia, EaP/Georgia by using 19th Rolan International Film Festival for Children and Youth as a powerful platform for promotion of V4 culture in Armenia (Yerevan/RA regions) involving maximally large audiences.

Current project is a continuation and development of the four projects supported by the International Visegrad Fund implemented in 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020-2021.

Project partners from Visegrad countries (Slovakia, Hungary, Poland and the Czech Republic) are Superfilm Production (Slovakia), Kid’s Eye Art Association (Hungary), HumanDoc Foundation – HumanDoc International Documentary Film Festival (Poland), JUNIORFEST International Film Festival for Children and Youth (the Czech Republic), Culture and Education Foundation (Georgia).

In the frames of the Project 15 films (produced in the Visegrad countries and recommended by the project partners) were selected for the project and the screenings.

Within the scope of the project the following events will be implemented:

“V4 Film Screenings” in Yerevan and the regions of Armenia will be organized to raise awareness about the culture and heritage of the Visegrad countries in Armenia and to support maintaining of Cinema Platform in Yerevan and RA regions. The screenings will take place in the Moscow Cinema in Yerevan, Vanadzor Branch of National Center of Aesthetics after Henrik Igityan in Vanadzor (Lori region), Gyumri Branch of National Center of Aesthetics after Henrik Igityan in Gyumri (Shirak region), Primacy of Tavush diocese in Ijevan (Tavush region).


Creative meetings/master classes will be organized in educational institutions of Yerevan (TUMO Center for Creative Technologies, Ayb School, Yerevak Educational Complex) to provide possibilities for the participants of

the project activities to share experience, deepening of intercultural relations, to establish new cultural ties for potential partnership in future.


Exhibition/Contests “Visegrad through the eyes of Armenian Children” will be held in cooperation with the Vanadzor and Gyumri branch of the National Center of Aesthetics after Henrik Igityan from 31.10.2023 to 21.11.2023. Artworks created by Armenian children devoted to the culture and heritage of Visegrad countries and Armenia will be presented. It will give new opportunities for more extensive promotion of V4 culture/heritage among new audiences expanding art/educational components of the project. The jury will choose the best artworks and their authors will be awarded.


The project participants will be producer and film theorist Julietta Sichel (the Czech Republic), producer Jan Fronek (the Czech Republic), director, founder of Kids’ Eye Art Association Nandor Grosch (Hungary), film editor and production manager Eszter Málnási-Csizmadia (Hungary), representative of the HumanDoc Foundation, manager of international projects for the accessibility of culture, art and information for people with visual and hearing disabilities Stanisław Brudnoch (Poland), social worker at the HumanDoc Foundation Aleksi Kvatania (Poland), lecturer at Shota Rustaveli Theatre and Film Georgia State University Alexander Vakhtangov (Georgia).

All screenings and events are organized exclusively on a charitable basis.

The Kid's Eye Art Association (Hungary) is committed to help as many children - whether living in families or in homes - as possible to express their feelings and thoughts through the medium of film. Apart from teaching kids film making skills, it organises film making groups, summer camps, as well as festivals where interested visitors can view films by children from Hungary and other countries.

JUNIORFEST (the Czech Republic) throughout its activity has been actively promoting European (Czech) film production among children/youth that is not always available in the domestic commercial film distribution.

Activities of the HumanDoc Foundation (Poland) and the Festivalare aimed at building and raising the social awareness about integration, developing contact/cooperation between communities to support imparting knowledge, values, developing skills through organizing cultural/education events (festivals, meetings, workshops, etc.).

Super film is an independent production company based in Bratislava and founded in 2015 by Simona Hrušovská and Veronika Kocourková. Super film is mainly focused on animated and educational film projects for children and young adults.

Culture and Education Foundation (Georgia) is a non-profit organization based in Georgia that is dedicated to promoting the development of young people through cultural-educational projects such as the Taoba International Youth Film Festival and the Film Education Institute. The Taoba IFF is a festival that aims to promote the development of young filmmakers and showcase their work on an international stage. The Film Education Institute is a project that provides educational programs and resources for young people interested in film-making and other aspects of the film industry.

The project aims to create necessary conditions for the continuation of deepening/expanding intercultural dialogue between V4-RA-EaP/Georgia by using 19th Rolan IFF as a powerful platform for promotion of V4 culture in Armenia (Yerevan/RA regions) involving maximally large audiences.

One of the priorities of the Gombolyag Foundation (Hungary) is the promotion of art and culture among children and youth and the aim of the BUSHO Film Festival is development of cultural identity by motivating young filmmakers to common activities.
